“Cinema: it’s the experience that counts”
Indeed it is.
But it’s an experience that needs to be shaken up and re-imagined from time to time.
Fortunately the three core elements which make up your regular cinema experience are each about to receive a long-overdue upgrade, courtesy of Films at the Yard:
1. The Venue. Imagine your local cinema: long queues; garish interiors; slow staff; chewing gum ground into stained carpets. Now stop imagining that and picture the Yard: a quirky, stripped back warehouse space with a buzzing bar, great food and classic films.
2. The Films. A positive experience at the cinema relies, importantly, on picking a good film to watch. Head to the Yard and guarantee yourself a good choice by watching a classic film or an old favourite: options over the next two weeks range from Reservoir Dogs and Jurassic Park to Dirty Dancing, Forrest Gump and Back to the Future.
3. Food & Drink. Replace choices like “sweet or salted”, “Coke or Sprite” and “Revels or Maltesers” with a choice of cocktails at the Yard’s famous gin bar; a choice of experimentally-flavoured, homemade popcorns; and a choice of sit-down dinners from an ever-changing menu of cinema-inspired, gastronomic treats created by two eccentric chefs whose culinary inspiration will be drawn from the different films being shown each night.
Cineworld: take note.
Films at the Yard launches this Saturday (18th February) and runs for just two weeks
