Thanksgiving At Bea’s

Thanksgiving at Bea’s Of Bloomsbury | Maltby Street

The British have, at one point or another, invented everything.

Like television; fizzy drinks; radio; the jet engine; books; the internet; the telephone; bank machines; stamps; the theory of evolution; ice cream; sport, and the United States of America.

Our pleasure.

It was while building the foundations of the USA that we also invented ‘Thanksgiving’, which initially existed to celebrate a good harvest, but which is now an annual public holiday that gives American friends and family an excellent excuse to eat as much food as they possibly can.

Their excuse for doing this throughout the rest of the year is unclear.

There seems to be no good reason why we should miss out on this annual feast, so Bea’s of Bloomsbury have decided to bring Thanksgiving home – “home” being their railway arch next to Maltby Street Market, by London Bridge.

For dinner on Thursday 22nd to Saturday 24th November 2012, and for lunch on Sunday 25th, Bea’s are laying on an all-you-can-eat turkey feast with all of the trimmings (buttery mash; roasted sprouts; mushroom sourdough and sausage cornbread stuffing; green beans and glazed carrots and sweet potato casserole with marshmallows), followed by a choice of pumpkin, apple or pecan pie with whipped cream.

The idea is that, supported by free-flowing soft drinks, you’ll be able to keep eating until you pass out.

Though given that an extra £20 will get you access to their open bar (for unlimited beer, wine and mulled wine), there’s a pretty strong chance that it won’t be the food that beats you.
