The Long Table
Despite Sunday being the new Saturday, Thursday being the old Wednesday and Tuesdays still being rubbish, there remains an 85% chance that you’ll be dining out this Friday.
Your problem, as ever, will be choosing where to go.
Given the large choice of places to eat in London, you’ve probably been wondering why someone doesn’t just bring some of the best options together – all in one place.
We’ve been wondering the same thing.
They could call it something like “The Long Table”, and it would work like a sort of night time food market within an unconventional space in East London. There would be stalls run by people like Nuno Mendes (the chef behind the Loft Project and Viajante); by Hawksmoor (purveyors of the finest steak in London); by Moro (Moorish cusine); by Gastro Geek (modern Indian street food) and by Mishkin’s new ‘dog supplier - Big Apple Hotdogs.
It could run from 6pm until after midnight every Friday night until Christmas, offering a handpicked selection of London’s best street food, a bar, live music and visual art housed within a WW2 bunker.
There’d be no ticket sales. You’d just turn up if you wanted to, buy dinner and drinks from your stalls of choice and then sit down amongst friends at a very Long Table - in the warm glow of a roaring log fire - to enjoy great food, cocktails, mulled wine and toasted homemade marshmallows.
How good would that be…
The Long Table launches at 6pm this Friday - 25th November. No tickets required - just turn up ready to eat, drink and be merry.
