Mishkins Review
Mishkin's - A "Kind Of" Jewish Deli In London
We need to talk.
One week today Mishkin’s - a “kind of" Jewish Deli in London (with cocktails) - will open to the public. It's the fifth restaurant from Richard Beatty and Russell Norman, after Spuntino; Polpo; Polpettto and Da Polpo.
Mishkin's – though it represents a new direction for the pair in being the very first non-kosher, Lower East Side-inspired, gin-based cocktail-serving east-end caf / Jewish Deli in London – is happily expected to be as laid-back, inexpensive and buzzy as their other restaurants to date.
And so to our talk, which regards your To-Do List for Monday.
You’re going to need to book in to this place.
Monday is when the reservations line opens and, as this is one new restaurant that you really ought to visit, you’d be firmly advised to add a “Book Mishkin’s” calendar entry for 10am.
Right about now.
The number to call – and you’re the very first people to receive it – is 020 7240 2078.
The largely gin-based cocktail list at Mishkin's features classics from the ‘30s and ‘40s.
The focus of the menu - created by group head chef Tom Oldroyd – is traditional Jewish fare…with a twist. Think latkes and knish; cod-cheek popcorn; melted cheese and pastrami sandwiches on toasted rye; chicken matzo ball soup; Brick Lane salt beef on soda bread; house-smoked beef brisket hash and eggs; meatloaf, and the biggest culinary twist of all for a Jewish Deli: pork hotdogs, served “dragged through the garden”.
L'Chaim.
Note: Mishkin’s - a "Kind of" jewish Deli in London - is Now Open.
Mishkin's is one our most romantic restaurants in London
