The Five Points Brewing Taproom & Five Points Courtyard

The Five Points Brewing Taproom & Five Points Courtyard | Taproom & Sun-Drenched Courtyard in Hackney

Five Points are the stars of London’s craft brewing scene.

They’re one of a growing number of London breweries where you can go and sample the suds fresh from the tanks, both in their double-height taproom and in their expansive sun-drenched courtyard, which is has relaunched with fabulous new drinks offerings and food vendors.

You’ll find it a stone’s throw away from Broadway Market, sprawling across a stout brick building on Hackney’s Mare Street. Indoors, there’s room for over 130 barleypop-lovers across a retro-styled taproom and a mezzanine viewing gallery, which is nestled directly amongst the brewing tanks up above. It’s the biggest of its kind in Hackney, and if you take a brewery tour, it’ll take a full 90 minutes to get around the place.

But… if you head around the corner towards the railway tracks, you’ll spot the vibrant green gateway to the Five Points Courtyard, freshly revamped and accommodating up to 300 beer-swilling punters. They’ve upgraded the space with a shaded pergola area, and new a greenhouse-style taproom complete with its own bar and plenty of tables for when the weather’s not playing ball (but there’s still dozens of outdoor tables for those occasional times when it is).

There’s a lot of beer here, obviously. But alongside the 18 taps hooked up to their tanks you’ll also find a roster of limited edition brews, seasonal numbers, guest suds and cask-conditioned ales too. You can also get some of the cheapest pints in the neighbourhood here – on Thursdays and Fridays (5-7pm) you can score a tank-fresh pint for £3.99. And then there’s all the not-beer, which this summer includes cocktails (dreamt up by the team behind Dalston’s Pamela) and a natural wine list put together by sommelier Bert Blaize.

Last year’s kitchen residency by ACE Pizza was hard to top, but for this summer the brewery’s drafted in a double act: From The Ashes and anoosh. The former have been popping up with their nose-to-tail BBQ dishes across London for a few years now, and here they’ll be rustling up the likes of Argentinian sausage with chimichurri and pit-roasted cauliflower flatbread over an open fire. anoosh, meanwhile, comes to you from a couple of KERB alums and trades in tacos stuffed with Middle Eastern ingredients, including harissa chicken with pickled chillies, and falafel laden with gojuchang tahini.

That just about wraps up the finer details…

…now, just point yourself down there.
