Jazz Cafe Camden

If you find yourself looking for a night of classic cocktails and live jazz…

…you don’t need to improvise.

Instead, make your way along to the scat-swinging, sax-piping Jazz Cafe in Camden. Once a Barclays Bank, nowadays you’ll find a spacious yet intimate live music venue, fitted with a mezzanine restaurant overlooking the stage.

Since opening in 1990 that stage has been graced by the likes of Amy Winehouse, D’Angelo, Roy Ayers, Bobby Womack and more. These days they offer a mixed programme of mostly hip hop, reggae, electronic, soul, and blues; both from established and up and coming artists, seven nights a week.

On weekends they also host regular club nights, including Soul City every Saturday where – for a fiver – you can lose yourself to old-school and new-school house, disco, and soul.

If you’re after something a little more low-key, select a show, and then book yourself a restaurant ticket. This will get you a table for the night, up on the mezzanine, where you can watch the show whilst revelling in the likes of chilli squid with sriracha mayo and burnt lime, followed by a rib eye steak with béarnaise sauce and skinny fries. As the night wears on, you’ll flag a waiter and order yourself a classic cocktail to see out the last few soulful notes…

It’s good, Old Fashioned fun.

NOTE: Jazz Cafe Camden is open, with live music, seven days a week. On Fridays and Saturdays they host club nights, with a 3am close. For a full list of all their shows, or to book tickets, visit their website here.
