How do you know if you’ve got the perfect gin?
It’s pretty clear.
…because you’ve made it yourself. While being guided through the process by the experts at a small craft distillery. Which also happens to be a bar. Specifically, a rather beautiful one called Martello Hall in Hackney.
Amongst its many charms (including a roof terrace, a pizza oven and co-working space) is the micro distillery in which they create their own botanically-loaded small-batch gin. Book in for the masterclass, and you’ll get to try a quartet of tonics accompanied with that gin (which range across the flavour spectrum) and undergo a botanical blind taste test, to work out the flavour profiles you prefer. That’ll put you in good stead to start blending, bottling and – the most important bit – naming two gins of your own to take home, all under the guidance of their head distiller Jack Mannering.
Because like they say, amateurs don’t know Jack.
NOTE: Martello Hall’s gin blending masterclasses (£80) are available to book online right HERE.
