Upon first hearing about Rich Mix, most people ask who Mick is and why he’s so wealthy.
Then of course, they hear about the venue’s blend of live music, theatre, dance, visual arts and cinema set across three performance spaces and three big screen auditoriums in a vast, five-story, 62,000-square-foot former leather factory in Shoreditch, and it becomes more clear. It’s a rich mix.
And that mix is really quite varied. They’re particularly great at giving under-represented minority groups a platform; plus, they’re a charity, whose profits all go to supporting arts and education in the local community, so 100% worth parting with your money for. Here’s a little taste of what you can expect:
THE CINEMA – Across three rather spacious screens, you’ll find everything from mainstream blockbusters to smaller festival films. Plus fresh popcorn & craft beers.
THE ARTS – on the stages, they’ve had everything from Latin Music festivals, to cutting edge plays, to talks about history’s most badass women.
THE ESCAPE ROOM – That’s right, they have an entire escape room hidden in their basement. It’s set across the backdrop of WW2 because, let’s face it, when planning great escape rooms, The Great Escape is not a *terrible* place to start.
And they do other stuff too, just for good measure. They’ve had festivals, immersive smart phone tours of the local area, and they’ve even played host to The Grand Annual Lying Competition.
Honest.
