Today, you’re going to potions class.
Don’t worry if that sounds challenging – some very talented people are going to be de mentors.
In fact, one of those people is co-founder David Duckworth, a molecular mixologist who’s previously put together mind-blowing cocktails at The Bletchley and ABQ. He’s teamed up with tech whizz, designer and self-confessed nerd Matthew Cortland to open a bar where you can craft your own magic-laced cocktails.
It’s called The Cauldron, and you’ll find it in Dalston. Step inside, and you’ll find yourself in a magical, non-IP specific world, suitably furnished with floating candles, gargoyles and dusty wizarding tomes. You’ll then get robed up, kitted out with a wand, and led to your personal potions bench cocktail workstation.
You’ll first whet your whistle with a special Fourpure collaboration beer – made with ingredients plucked from traditional folk witchcraft and mysteriously poured from a tree with a tap of your wand – before you scale up to the mixed drinks, for which you’ll have to raid the potions cupboard. You can pick any two concoctions from their extensive menu, depending on what sort of er, effects you’d like them to have. And then, armed with the appropriate tinctures, extracts, and eyes of newt, you’ll go on to create your otherworldy creations which may variously smoke, change colour, or be dramatically set on fire by a passing druid.
Just don’t go too heavy on the booze measures…
You might end up walking out Diagon Alley.
NOTE: The Cauldron is a ticketed experience. Sessions last 1hr45mins, and start at £30 – you can reserve your spot HERE.
