Bond, it seems, was partial to his juniper juice. Shocker, we know. So it’s quite appropriate that his legacy be celebrated by a gin distillery, with a five-course immersive dinner at one of the few places in the UK where they make both the food and their gin on-site.
It’s all part of The Distillery Presents… a new dining series at The Distillery on Portobello Road, where they’ll be serving up a gin-paired, multi-sensory feast on a series of themes throughout the year. Currently, they’re styling it around ‘The Drinks and Dinners of James Bond’, taking inspiration from both Bond and author Ian Fleming’s lives, and their mutual predilection for martinis, Champagne, bourbon and many of the other finer things in life.
On screen, Bond averages a drink every 10 minutes and 53 seconds – a record you’ll come pretty close to through the course of the evening. You’ll settle into your suitably suave surroundings with a welcome drink, before sitting down to a secret five course menu, with every dish paired to a specially created cocktail. You’ll even be talked through the inspiration behind each of the courses by your sharply dressed host for the evening.
Which all sounds rather stirring.
