Frenchie’s Gregory Marchand Shares His Favourite London Spots

We asked Frenchie’s founder & head chef Gregory Marchand where he likes to dine, drink, and while away the hours in London…

Favourite date spot?

My wife Marie and I love to go to The River Café. Marie loves Italian wine, too.

Favourite brunch spot?

Dishoom is great for brunch. I also like Duck and Waffle

Favourite Sunday lunch spot?

St. John Bread and Wine is one of my go-to places on a Sunday.

Favourite cocktail bar?

Experimental Cocktail Club

The Barbary - every bit as good as Gregory Marchand claims

Favourite place for a casual dinner?

The Barbary: When I’m in London I live around the corner and so this is basically my canteen – happily, the food is delicious.

Favourite restaurant abroad?

L’Arpège in Paris – Alain Passard is a real vegetable master.

London-based guilty pleasure?

The Double SmokeShack burger at Shake Shack – we don’t have Shake Shack in France.

Desert Island Dish?

Sweetbreads cooked in brown butter and lemon, with silky-smooth and buttery mash potato.

We assume that Gregory was just being polite… and didn’t want to say that his actual favourite restaurant is Frenchie
