NOTE: 108 Garage has now closed.
108 Garage is, well, a former garage.
Thankfully, the cars have gone. Keeping them would have been exhausting.
And now, the place is there to help you refuel, via a menu of inventive fusion dishes. The place itself is in Notting Hill (specifically the suddenly-a-restaurant-destination Golborne Road), and it’s got an understandably cavernous brick interior with polished concrete floors, all of which they’ve dolled up with slick mid-century furnishings and low-wattage exposed bulbs.
The aforementioned fusion menu comes to us from a chef – Chris Denney – who actually trained in the fine arts before taking a restaurant job simply to pay the bills. After working his way up to a triple-Michelin star kitchen (Piazza Duomo in Alba), now, at last he has his own joint to both pay the bills, and showcase his abundant talent.
That talent is being poured into dishes like angelotti pasta with a lambs heart ragu and a vegetable broth; crisp turbot with monks beard, cuttlefish, and romanesco; butter-poached snow crab with pickled turnips; and fallow deer cooked sous-vide, then flash-finished in the pan and paired with some red cabbage & cranberry cheese.
Desserts are equally interesting, with menu fillers like chocolate cremeux with artichoke ice cream & puffed rice sitting comfortably alongside black sesame ice cream with leaves of caramelised meringue.
All in all, it’s the perfect place to park up for the evening.
