When it comes to steak restaurants, these guys have flattened the competition.
Because in a move directly proportional to the deliciousness of their meat, former pop up Flat Iron have opened their fifth branch – this time in the growing gastro hub at the end of Portobello Market.
Setting up shop on Golborne Road, the space features Flat Iron’s now-classic, low-lit combination of unvarnished wood and cast iron-clad industrialism. And that’s not the only successful formula they’re porting over from their other venues. Because there’s also….

Obviously Team Flat Iron are still serving up their smoothly-marbled (and ridiculously well-priced) signature cuts from privately-reared cows, accompanied by those mini meat cleavers and mouth watering sides like beef dripping chips, roast aubergine, and creamed spinach. But then there’s also…
…THAT WHICH IS DIFFERENT
The unique touches at Golborne Road range from small additions like Japanese white ale on tap and cocktails made in collaboration with the nearby Portobello Gin (featuring hay infusions from the Flat Iron farm) to slightly more noticeable touches…. like a 7ft tall repurposed 1930s Brazilian cold store in which they’re showcasing their beef in the process of dry-ageing.
A process which, ironically, will never get old.
