Goode & Wright

So you’ve popped along to Portobello Road for a little antiques shopping, you’ve bought nothing and now you have a raging desire to consume a carafe of Merlot and some traditional Gallic fare in a quaint French bistro.

Goode & Wright can help.

An English restaurant with a French accent, its aim is to bring the best food and drink together from each side of the Channel to Portobello Road. A friendly neighbourhood haunt, Goode & Wright combines a cosy, wood-panelled interior with a typically bistroesque black and white floor – an appropriate setting in which to enjoy a simple menu made up of a blend of locally sourced and imported traditional French ingredients.

To start you’ll find options like crab remoulade with pork crackling, apple and foie gras with truffle honey; for main courses there are the likes of pork belly with charred octopus, braised beef rib, and smoked haddock brandade (all of which can, and should, come with Goode & Wright’s famous hand-cut, duck fat-cooked chips); while to finish are desserts like lime marshmallow with pineapple and lemon posset with vanilla meringue.

And if you’d like some greens to accompany your meal, check out their fine selection of absinthe-based cocktails…
