Ah, the French.

You eat baked beans. They nibble on haricots cuits au four.

You ask where the library is. They ask “où est la bibliothèque”?

You drink champagne. They drink champagne.

It’s all so glamorous.

However fortunately – and this is particularly fortunate, given the fact that you may soon require a visa to cross the Channel – a little slice of France has now landed on the edge of Hoxton Square…

Yes welcome to Petit Pois Bistro, the very first eating house from the highly respected team behind two of London’s preeminent cocktail bars: Happiness Forgets and Original Sin. A small, warmly-lit fusion of exposed brick, hanging trellises, white leather booths and men wearing berets with onions hanging around their necks, this is the place to go the next time you fancy diving into a carefully-curated menu of classic French fare featuring a tiny selection of dishes like moules marinières, steak frites with béarnaise sauce, duck confit with onion purée and potato gratin, and (what has promptly become the most in-demand item there) a beautiful chocolate mousse generously served up à la table.

Petit Pois Bistro

Like we said, it’s classic.

Speaking of which… staying true to their roots, les propriétaires de la maison have also established a little cocktail bar at the back which means, alongside your meal, you’ll also get to enjoy a menu of signature mixed drinks and formidable vins.

“Wonderful wines.”
