The Gaslight Grill | Battersea Restaurant

Battersea.

Famous for its sprawling park; for a shelter that looks after homeless dogs and cats; for “Nappy Valley”, to which young middle class couples flock in mating season; and for housing a lonely and insecure old Power Station that’s still unsure of its place in the modern world.

Less well known is that Battersea’s now also home to The Gaslight Grill, a new “modern steakhouse and Victorian gin palace”.

And the whole set-up is perfect for summer.

On a balmy Saturday evening, following an afternoon of fun in Battersea Park – boating; basking; frisbeeing – you’ll head to the garden of The (award-winning) Lost Angel for happy hour Margaritas; Mojitos; Warsaw Pacts and Licked Sailors.

As the sun begins to set and the air begins to cool you’ll take your table inside the intimate and moody Gaslight Grill which – as luck would have it – is located inside The Lost Angel.

The feel: part-Victorian country estate, part-19th century Gin Palace…. and part pub.

The menu: potted Sussex crab and beef tartar with quails egg; flat iron steaks with citizen hot sauce; lightly-grilled venison paired with pineapple marmalade; and a gin-palace-inspired drinks list that – you’ve probably already guessed – is entirely focused on gin.

Home-infused gins; world craft gins; bathtub gins and London gins are all available alongside a big cocktail list and a selection of some the UK’s best real ale…
