Ah, this place is good.
The Modern Pantry’s aim is to combine the basic human necessity to eat with contemporary and exciting dining experiences… and it’s particularly well known for its excellent breakfast & brunch.
Housed in an imposing brick building, the oh-so-white freshness and simplicity of the interior echoes the ‘basic’ side of its philosophy (as indicated by ‘pantry’).
Yet the food couldn’t be less so, with wholesome and seasonal ingredients being imaginatively combined to create interesting and well-balanced dishes. Diners are invited to choose from the likes of smoked ricotta and pickled gooseberry salad, confit Barbary duck leg with roasted fennel and dandelion, and pan-fried monkfish with rhubarb and hazelnut crisps.
All of which – we’d very much like to say – make for excellent, and surprising combinations. But that’s really for you to decide: all we know is that it tastes great. If you’re still hungry, top picks from the dessert menu include the blackcurrant and liquorice sorbet, and the chocolate truffle fondant with candied coriander seeds.
But we had you at “Ah, this place is good”, right?
