The Providores and Tapa Room | Marylebone Restaurant
NOTE: Sadly, The Providores has now closed.
There are a number of great things in this life.
Making the amber light.
The other side of the pillow.
Treacle cured bacon ice cream with olive meringues, banana salted caramel and yoghurt maple cream, that sort of thing.
Regarding that last one. It’s a result of two co-dependent things. The first being Peter Gordon – the undisputed father of fusion cuisine in London (a process combining elements of different culinary traditions in order to create novel dishes), and the second being The Providores – his Marylebone restaurant split over two levels (the downstairs being a relaxed, informal fusion tapas bar, and the upstairs being a relaxed, slightly more formal, contemporary dining room).
Why go? Good Question. Which we’ll answer systematically in three parts.
1) Brunch & Dinner. There are things like grilled chorizo with sweet potato and miso hash with soft boiled eggs, garlic labne and star anise cashew nut praline. And then there are also things like seared yellowfin tuna, jicama, cucumber, spring onion salad, shiitake mushroom, green tea noodles, yuzu chilli dressing, toasted nori and sesame.
2) New Zealand Fizz. Herein lays the most comprehensive New Zealand wine list in all of London. They also – as a side note – have nut-melks and feijoa and guava smoothies.
3) Brunch & Dinner, with New Zealand Fizz.
Basically.
NOTE: The Tapa Room doesn’t take reservations, however The Providores does. You can book The Providores online HERE or by calling 020 7935 6175.
