Tom’s Kitchen | St Katharine Docks
NOTE: Sadly, Tom’s Kitchen has now closed.
All great restaurants, but only one has satiated the desires of a sufficient number of London’s fastidious restaurant goers to have not only avoided having to close down but also, this week, to have opened its fourth London outpost.
And the winner is… Tom’s Kitchen! Which you already knew.
Now alive and kicking in the heart of St Katharine Docks, it describes itself as “A modern British twist on a French brasserie”. The modern British twist being that the waiters are polite, and have fresh breath. Though in many ways similar to its siblings – some of those ways being the industrial / rustic décor of white tiles, gun metal light fittings and wooden tables – it’s better than the other ones for two main reasons:
1) It’s next to the Tower Of London. Which means that as soon as your weekly Saturday morning pilgrimage to admire The Crown Jewels is finished you’ll be able to pop in for Belgian waffles with Blueberry Compote and Chantilly Cream. Hmmm, waffles.
2) Specifically, it’s in St Katharine Docks. Which means that you can organize a date night here that’ll start with rooftop cocktails at Skylounge; continue with truffled mac n’ cheese, pan fried black bream and milk chocolate profiteroles chez Tom; continue further with a walk around the marina picking out your favourite superyachts; and culminate in a romantic embrace illuminated by the lights of Tower Bridge.
But even if the romantic embrace doesn’t happen, you’ll at least have had profiteroles.
NOTE: Tom’s Kitchen has sadly now closed. Perhaps you could try Bravas Tapas…
