Yen

NOTE: Yen has sadly now closed.

Today, we bring you very big news.

The Padella of noodles is coming.

It’s called Yen, and it’s promising fine-dining Japanese… all the way from Paris.

Bringing over the same concept as the St. Germain de Près original, they’ll be skilfully hand-making buckwheat soba noodles twice a day in a dramatic glass-walled space at the back of the restaurant, so you could, if you wish, spend all day with your face glued to the window as they work.

Alternatively, you could sit down at the sushi counter or an intimate table and enjoy some they made earlier, which they’ll be offering alongside other traditional Japanese treats like sashimi, robata-grilled dishes and tempura bites. And considering the chefs have all been plucked from top restaurants in Kyoto and Hokkaido, the original Yen, and London’s own Zuma, you can expect some pretty good things.

It’ll all be contained in a minimalist Japanese-styled setting, with backlit Shoji screens and elegant ikebana arrangements, while a mezzanine cocktail bar spills out onto an outdoor terrace space.

You’re gonna lose your noodle.
