Something unexpected has been going down at Canary Wharf.
The area’s gone from a megalith of early noughties skyscrapers and functional infrastructure to somewhere you might actually go, on purpose… to have fun.
Canary Wharf has ditched its all work, no play ethos, and this concrete jungle has opened up its waterways to hot tub boats and open-air swimming. The neatly manicured green spaces host summer festivals, outdoor film screenings and free minigolf. And the formerly grey streets are now awash with public art installations, from Camille Walala’s colourful tunnel bridge to the annual Winter Lights festival.
Add in some quality restaurants (including a floating Hawksmoor) and a growing collection of activity bars, and you’ll find Canary Wharf’s got plenty to write home about…
