A new bar is like a new baby.
It’s exciting and unique to begin with, but before long its covered in vomit and keeps you awake with its incessant noise.
Luckily, 68 and Boston has skipped the newborn phase and has quickly matured into a well-rounded, sophisticated Soho hang-out.
Aficionados of London nightlife Eric Yu (Opium and The Social), Martin Malley (Planet of the Grapes) and Luca Cordiglieri (China Tang at The Dorchester) have teamed up to create a chic wine bar and a late-night cocktail bar under one elegant roof. Here’s what you’ll find:
This all-day wine bar is situated on the ground floor of its Greek Street residence, and expertly replicates the atmosphere found at the traditional wine bars of France and Italy. Every bottle of wine on its concise menu costing just £20 (thanks to Martin Malley’s expert wrangling and supreme grape knowledge), and whenever you go, you’ll find a menu of 25 well-priced wines from all corners of the globe.
Upstairs is a late-night cocktail lounge decorated with dark woods, relaxed plush seating, and a mantelpiece stocked with hardback books. On the menu are classic cocktails that come with imaginative garnishes and the odd in-house original, such as Mama’s Margarita – a mix of tequila, triple sec, lime juice, gomme syrup and ‘Mama’s secret ingredient’.
But thanks to newborn babies, we all know that “Mama’s secret ingredient” is usually booze.
NOTE: 68 and Boston is open Monday to Saturday until late (around 2am). Reservations can be made HERE or by calling 020 7287 3713
