Dalston Roof Park

Dalston Roof Park

If there’s one thing that post-lockdown London needs, it’s more charities like The Bootstrap Company.

And if there’s another thing it needs it’s more rooftops where you can meet up with your friends to drink frozen mezcal margaritas while looking out over east London’s Victorian buildings and The City’s towering skyscrapers….

And believe it or not (you probably will), at Dalston Roof Park you can do the latter while supporting the former, because all profits from this sky high venue and community space go to The Bootstrap Company, a charity launched in 1977 to help Londoners set-up their own businesses and develop professional skills. The charity now manages and provides workspace – supporting its tenants (mainly start ups, social enterprises and other charities) to grow into sustainable businesses and to be socially enterprising – while simultaneously “empowering young people by arming them with skills, knowledge, tools and a network to succeed professionally”.

Dalston Roof Park

The rooftop itself – which was inspired by Robert Hammond’s New York High Line –  is a bit of a chameleon, at times playing host to raucous alfresco club nights, events and parties; at others offering up film screenings or  firepits, rugs and hot drinks accompanied by live acoustic sets; and – in the immediate aftermath of London’s Covid-19 lockdown – offering a safe & chilled out space in the clouds for you to catch up with your friends over a natural wine or two, a couple of cocktails and (at the time of writing) European / Asian fusion dishes courtesy of Rapsa.

Event listings (which are limited to film screenings right now) can be found here. Tables can currently accommodate up to 8 guests, but there’s no mingling with other groups once you’re up there – so best head up with people you really like…

NOTE: Dalston Roof Park is currently open every day, unless it rains.  No bookings, but you can turn up if your group is 8 or less people.
