Do Not Disturb.
It’s certainly a brave sign to hang above a brand new bar.
But then, this place isn’t particularly out to grab attention – given that it’s a secret, subterranean, velvet-swathed drinking den dressed up like a speakeasy from 1920s Manhattan.
It’s coming to London as part of a neat package that also includes a slick new hotel, roof terrace and Mediterranean eatery, called the Vintry & Mercer.
Tucked downstairs, it’ll be low-key, low-lit and high-falutin’ in all the right ways, with leather banquettes, velvet stools propping up the bar, and moodily-hued walls lined with vintage pictures of Follies chorus girls. There’ll be plenty of hooch, too, to complete the picture – cocktails are set to be a focus, with barkeeps already working on barrel-ageing and bottling various concoctions.
Best to let them get on, then…
NOTE: Do Not Disturb is set to open sometime in the Spring, and will be open daily 5.30pm-1am. We’ll be back with the full scoop when it does, but you can find out more in the meantime on their website right HERE.
