Eve | Covent Garden Bar
What is a palindrome?
No, it isn’t.
But Eve is.
It comes to us from Adam (no coincidence) Handling, the young wünderchef behind The Frog; in fact, you’ll find Eve slung neatly below his covent garden flagship.
The space takes a markedly different tone to the restaurant upstairs, with dark walls, religious iconography, neon, and moodily low lighting. Behind the wood, stone, and brass bar, they’re mixing up a range of creatively theatrical cocktails, curated by both Handling himself, and Australian drinks maestro Tim Laferla. Speaking of which,
You see this? This is a solid cube of Black Russian, solidified into an ice cube. With it, comes a clarified White Russian (made with vodka, split cream, cold brew coffee, maple syrup, and Fernet Branca). You pour one onto the other, and as you drink, the drinks melt togeher, gradually changing the flavour profile from one extreme to the other.
Aside from that, you can expect to find numbers like the Freyja, which uses vodka and St. Germain as its base, deepened by a mixture of aquavit, pickled gooseberry and elderflower mead; or the Life After Dark, which brings 18yr whiskey together with a fruity punch made from pomegranate shrub, as well as a touch of fleeting bitterness from Mr Black coffee.
And of course, if you’re looking for a little ballast to go with that booze, you can always pop upstairs to the acclaimed restaurant. It’s so convenient…
…you won’t Adam and Eve it
