Garden Room | Central London Bar & Restaurant
The beautiful, foliage-laden restaurant at Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings is famously one of London’s most picturesque al fresco-style dining rooms.
And now, we’re about to hear the pitter-patio of tiny feet.
Because B&H – the people who have not only brought you said buildings, but also the intimate, eccentric Bourne & Hollingsworth Bar and Reverend J W Simpson – are about to open their fourth permanent spot, Garden Room.
It’s going to be quite the looker, perched atop the Assembly Hotel in Leicester Square and boasting 10th floor, 180 degree panoramic views across the city through floor to ceiling windows. And it’s set to be just as breathtaking inside, with quirky patterned rattan seating, whitewashed floorboards, and cascades of living plants to give the whole place the feel of an elegant greenhouse.
That botanical theme will be filtering into the drinks too, with cocktails on the menu like the Gimble, with bourbon and a home-made dandelion and nettle cordial; or the punchy Rumble In The Clouds, combining the house five-rum blend with pineapple, peach, bitters and spiced falernum.
And they’ll be offering plenty by way of sustenance too, serving a seasonal Modern European menu for lunch and dinner. Expect dishes like grilled prawn and chestnut skewers with béarnaise sauce; cod with braised Puy lentils and roast tomatoes; and duck confit with boulangère potatoes and rhubarb.
Which doesn’t sound common or garden at all.
NOTE: Garden Room is set to open 23rd November, but you can make a reservation now on their website HERE.
