What’s better than a beautiful new Irish singing pub opening in SE1? How about half-priced Guinness at said pub? In both cases, it’s music to our ears.
Yes, Molly Mc’s is flinging open its doors, and Nudge Members +1 are getting an exclusive golden hour, from 12th-25th May, with 50% off Guinness and cocktails from 5pm-8pm.

But drinks deals are just the beginning – because this isn’t just any Irish pub. It’s a singing pub. Specifically, one with private singing rooms, where you and the gang (the largest room can accommodate 14 people, whilst the smallest is suitable for a pair) can take centre stage, with drinks and food brought straight to your booth, and full permission to belt out whatever you like. Is it a karaoke bar? No. But also… sort of yeah?

So what is Molly Mc’s – or, rather, who? Molly Mc Elhinney, to use her full name, is the much-loved and much-missed grandmother of Johnny and Ryan Mc Elhinney, Directors of Molly Mc’s, who have opened the pub in her honour. Molly Mc’s is a glossily-presented spin on a ‘traditional’ Irish pub – and the slickness of its delivery makes sense, given that the family have been in the business for the last 58 years, with Molly’s son Jack (yep, that’s Johnny and Ryan’s dad) having set up the Mc & Sons Group that now oversees an array of well-pitched pubs across the capital. So it’s a family affair, and this latest addition to the mini-empire has got a clear angle; it’s all about the music.
Swagger into Molly Mc’s and you’ll discover live music on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 8pm – a situation which seems set to make it a strong contender for our edit of the Best London Bars With Live Music. There’s nothing quite like traditional Irish music played live, and the pub is intent on whipping up a glorious raucous atmosphere, with violin-led trad classics being played until late, with joining in very much encouraged.

As with many of the other Mc & Sons Group ventures there’s Thai food on the menu, and, as with every venue in London that has an even glancing connection to Ireland, there are spicebags – which are as ubiquitous as they are an undeniably-superb post-pub indulgence. Ideal after, say, a few pints of perfectly-poured Guinness at 50%-off, and a rousing tabletop performance of Whiskey In The Jar.
NOTE: Molly Mc’s is open everyday from 4pm. For full info and bookings check out the Molly Mc’s website.
