Ninety One Living Room is more than your average jazz bar.
As well as offering a jam-packed line up of live performances, the thriving venue also hosts album launches and infamous House Parties. And it doesn’t stop there. There’s a restaurant with an American-inspired menu and a list of signature cocktails that’s sure to have you up on your feet and siska-boom-bah-ing in no time.
Feeling Good? Let’s slow the tempo for a moment and paint the scene.
You can find Ninety One Living Room discreetly tucked away down Brick Lane. It sits alongside The Truman Brewery, which is home to a hive of creative businesses, restaurants, shops and event spaces. As the name suggests, the space is designed to feel like a living room. It’s softly lit, with whitewashed walls creating an intimate space where people are welcome to kick back and work during the day, dine in the evening, and cut a rug late into the night.
The small stage is where the magic happens. Here, emerging and established musicians appear before audiences at least three times a week as part of the venue’s rich, multicultural programme. If this piques your interest, dive deeper with the club’s Creative Director, Juliet Kennedy, who hosts the Ninety One Living Room podcast.

Hold the Salt Peanuts to save plenty of room for dinner. The dining is casual at Ninety One; drop in for a drink and share a couple of small plates at the bar, or book a table and stay for the duration. The burgers are the headline act and you can order yours with a drink for a bargain £10 on nights when there’s no live music. Other options include gourmet mac ‘n’ cheese, miso roasted aubergine and roasted chicken thighs with Ras al Hanout.
When the lights dim and the music goes up, that’s when you’ll feel the full effect of the Klipsch and Funktion One hybrid sound system, which alone is worth a visit for avid audiophiles.
After dinner the venue takes on a party atmosphere complete with a dance floor that’s beckoning you to pivot step, jive or chassé to the middle, and shake a tail feather.
NOTE: Ninety One Living Room is open from noon till late, Tues-Sun. You can find out more, and reserve a table, HERE.
