We’re throwing a party.
Not the sort with tiny canapés and awkward small talk. No. Rather, the sort that previews the all-new riverside terraces of 18th century neoclassical palaces run by a wildly talented team on the bleeding edge of London’s bar & restaurant scene, with complimentary welcome cocktails (yes, plural) plus 50% off food & drink all night, too.
That kind of party.
It’s happening at Setlist, a brand new venue perched on the Thames-facing terrace of Somerset House, on Friday 2nd May — a week before it opens to the public. The place itself comes to us from a dream team of hospitality alchemists, including the show runners behind Bambi, Frank’s in Peckham, and Bar Elba. It’s got all the markings of an absolute summer banger: views of the river, a gloriously modern pavilion, and a calendar full of DJs, live acts, and stunning visual art. This’ll be one of their first full-scale events.
The evening in question will be a buzzing long knees-up running from 6 ’til midnight, with plenty of drinks, excellent food, and a dancefloor that will require some next-day recovery – this is not going to be a sit-down affair. The soundtrack will be a heady mix of funky house, soul, and jazz, all curated by Clem from Prince of Peckham, the man who’s been quietly turning South London pubs into institutions for the last few years.
And as for the food? Expect a lineup including:
- Opeoluwa Odutayo x The Future Plate – African & Caribbean food including jerk chicken skewers with scotch bonnet mango chutney
- Sophie Wyburd x Wildfarmed – smoked cheese beignets, saucisson pizzette with taleggio, etc.
- Masafina – a whole swathe of heirloom corn tortilla tacos
- Happy Endings – exceptional soft-serve ice cream, obviously, because some of us have priorities
