Rooftop bars are already pretty big in East London.
But this one’s Wapping.
Taking over the top three floors of an old car park down by Tobacco Docks, Skylight is a sprawling rooftop playground decked out with astroturf greenery, colourful up-cycled pergolas and festoon lighting.
Over the winter, you’ll find the place populated with 18 igloos for private hire, each heated and either facing the impressive London skyline or perched down by the canal below. Decked out with faux fur and blankets, you’ll get to enjoy table service here for mulled wine, cocktails and seasonal street food from chicken schnitzel burgers to bratwurst, poutine, and pigs in blankets.
When you tire of the panoramic views, there’s table tennis and shuffleboard to keep you entertained, as well as DJs on Saturday nights and Sunday quizzes. Downstairs at Tobacco Dock, they’ve even created a pop up cinema screening festive classics in an 18th century warehouse. But the real pièce de résistance is their incredible rooftop ice rink. It costs £15pp for a 45 minute spin, and can only be booked on the day.
Better get your skates on, then.
NOTE: Skylight is open from Thurs-Sun, 12-11pm (10pm Sun). Entry is free, and activities cost from £5/half hour – you can book online HERE.
