STEREO

STEREO’s really generating some buzz in Covent Garden.

After all, while it’s slap back in Central London, filled with amazing theatres and home to dozens of incredible restaurants, the area kind of goes strangely quiet after 10pm.

Well, not any more. Because this stunning new bar & live music venue has opened on the Piazza itself, filling a moody space below Covent Garden market with cocktails, DJs, and amazing late-night food.

STEREO is the latest spot to come from the creative minds of Experimental Group, who – in between running some of the most stylish haunts in Paris, New York, Venice and Ibiza – have somehow found the time to run the Experimental Cocktail Club and the Henrietta Hotel here in London. So it’s unsurprising that the place is absolutely dripping in glamour. You’ll descend into a vast subterranean temple to music, with cool, monochromatic murals; leather banquettes; and velvet stools clustered around low, glossy tables. At one end you’ll find the stage, and in the centre, presiding majestically over the space, is a huge island bar which gives the distinct impression of having twice as much booze thanks to the mirrored ceiling.

It’s also no surprise, given their apparent flair for every area of hospitality, that STEREO isn’t merely a bar for live music. You can swing by for dinner, stay for a couple of drinks, then, as the band strikes up, hit the dancefloor. It’s therefore ideal for anyone who a) likes fun, and b) dislikes the tube on a Saturday night.

And by the way, you will want to come for dinner. Because STEREO’s menu of Franco-American comfort food has been put together by none other than Andrew Clarke (chef-owner of ACME Fire Cult, one of our undisputed favourite restaurants in East London right now). We’re talking cheeseburgers and hot wings; lobster pie and 1 kilo Porterhouse steaks, plus a menu of bar snacks to fuel the dancing until 2am, all served in a curtained-off restaurant area with its own pool table.

And once you’re fed and watered? It’ll be time to hit the dancefloor, with live music from STEREO’s house band and acid house DJs taking over until 3am. Which might sound impressive…

…but it’s actually pretty STEREO typical.

NOTE: STEREO is open Tuesday-Saturday until 3am (midnight on Tuesdays). You can find out more on their website HERE.
