The Den

Saying The Den has a rich history is a bit like saying Jeff Bezos has a ‘comfortable’ income.

Since opening in the mid-sixties (when it was known as The Marquee Club) the venue’s hosted gigs from everyone who was anyone, including The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, and more. You name them, they probably smashed a guitar here. Over the years it has remained a haven for live music… however despite surviving Keith Moon and John Bonham, it was finally shuttered by the pandemic.

But now it’s back.

You’ll find The Den sitting right next to 100 Wardour, where it occupies a cozy little low-lit nook. The dim lighting highlights the lush cognac tones of the leather bar stools, the vintage vinyl records lining the wall, and the colourful, iconic artworks from David Studwell. It may be a re-launch, but the place feels very much like a heady throwback to a bygone era. And most importantly, at its heart is a piano, occupied every Thursday to Sunday with a rotating line-up of renowned ivory-tinklers.

If you fancy a drink, The Den specialises in musically inspired cocktails, with menu-fillers including the Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door (a whisky-based number with Disaronno & vanilla) or the tequila-loaded Purple Haze, which features all-spice liqueur, cranberry and ginger ale.
