The Green Room Piccadilly | Subterranean Portuguese Cocktails
Elegant cocktails and delicious Portuguese food.
If those words sound like good words to you, then you’ll probably quite like The Green Room. It’s the moody speakeasy-style cocktail bar sitting underneath the casually gorgeous Casa do Frango Piccadilly, which is itself tucked away on a quiet courtyard just off Regent Street. If you’ve not had the pleasure of a meal there, it’s a genuinely lovely Portuguese restaurant that just happens to boast this eminently date-worthy cocktail joint right underneath it, open every evening from Wednesday – Saturday.
Much like its sibling, The Green Room in London Bridge, it features an elegantly arched brick ceiling, plush furnishings, scattered greenery, and a handsomely pinstriped wooden bar. And, much like its sibling, the cocktails are extremely good.
They span from a classic Negroni (made here with Ginjinha sour cherry liqueur), to signatures like the Pomba, which brings together smokey Montelobos mezcal with Aperol, yuzu sake, and grapefruit soda. And of course, they’re not wasting the talent in the kitchens upstairs, either – you can tuck into platters of cheese and charcuterie, as well as ‘tostas’ (toasted sandwiches), served until late.
Which is, of course, the time you’ll be craving them most…
NOTE: The Green Room beneath Casa do Frango Piccadilly is open Wed-Sat evenings, 5pm-12am. You can find out more, and make a booking, HERE.
