The Narrowboat is…well, it’s a little narrow.
But that’s just part of its charm. The only pub to be located directly on top of Regent’s Canal, you won’t get better views of this pretty little stretch of water, particularly if the weather is good. Bag a seat on the overhanging balcony, sit back, relax, and watch the water world go by.
While the pub is buzzing all week, Sundays are big at The Narrowboat, and not just because of their famous Bloody Mary menu. But seriously, if you are partial or in need of a livener, go just for these. ‘Bloody Maria’ in particular will slap even the tiredest of patrons back to life, while another comes bearing actual bacon.
The roast dinners are legendary but there’s other traditional fare on offer too, all served with the creative flair this kitchen has become known for. Stuff your face and then go for a stroll along the canal afterwards – Sundays don’t get much better.
Or Mondays actually. If you’re sick of working from home and are craving a welcome change of scenery, you can set up shop in what must be one of the best “office spaces” around. For a mere £15 you can enjoy a meal from the brunch menu, unlimited tea and coffee, WI-FI access and an all important plug socket. For an extra fiver you can treat yourself to a glass of wine or beer at the end* of the day.
True to its name, the pub is long and snug but it’s across multiple floors, so if you’re looking for a good event space, there’s three to choose from here, all serving up a great view and relaxed atmosphere. And you can depend on the drinks menu to deliver – with a carefully curated wine list and a wide selection of draught and cask beers and ales to choose from, as well as cocktails galore, both alcoholic and alcohol free.
Living on London’s canals is not for the faint-hearted. But The Narrowboat delivers a little taste of that special way of life from the comfort of dry land.
