Wham.
That’s the sound of Tropicana Beach Club landing in Covent Garden. It’s big, it’s bold, and while drinks aren’t quite free, it’s essentially everything George Michael dreamed of.
In fact, the lyrics to Club Tropicana are almost spookily prescient, for this nightclub indeed features – besides no fewer than 500 tropical bird decorations –
A blue lagoon. But don’t worry, you won’t be getting your feet wet. The centre of Tropicana Beach Club is given over to a digitally enhanced, interactive dancefloor, on which you’ll be avoiding (virtual) sharks and participating in (actual) shot-laden surfboard limbo contests, amidst the occasional tropical thunderstorm.

Cocktail time. You’ll definitely know when it’s cocktail time, because sparklers will be blazing, Copacabana will be blaring and the lifeguard becostumed staff will be running over to your table with sharer cocktails served in anything from coconut-laden palm trees to actual miniature yachts. Of course, if you’re more of a tropical wallflower, you can prop up either of the two bars enjoying one of their 50+ individual cocktails.
A summer’s tune. Some of the live entertainment on offer at Tropicana Beach Club includes an elemental magician (we understand it’s something to do with whipping ice, sand and fire out of a sleeve), steel drum bands, cabaret acts and fire entertainers. Also, it’s a club. There will be dancing.

In fact, the only thing George couldn’t foresee was that they will also be serving up beach-inspired grill dishes from a kitchen headed up by Big Easy’s Trevor Tobin.
But he probably had faith.
