Margarita Rumble | London’s best tequila bars go mano-a-mano
It’s easy to see how nerve-wracking cocktail competitions can be.
The barmen are constantly shaking.
But that can only be a good thing at London’s third Margarita Rumble: a fierce cocktail battle between 15 of London’s finest bars, including Nine Lives, Cafe Pacifico, 12:51, The Bootlegger, Tequila Mockingbird… you get the picture. And it all ultimately results in you having to sample vast amounts of their efforts. For the good of the competition, of course.
Taking place early this May, each bookable session comprises an all-inclusive tequila marathon of two hours. And here’s how it’s going to go down:
1) You’ll make your way to the quite beautiful venue that is the London Fields Arches… you’ll know you’ve got the right place when you see a space that looks like it was built for a railway, but now houses a brewery, but currently has the subtle scent of tequila lingering in the air.
2) For the next few hours, you’ll be free to peruse the stands manned by the bars’ head mixologists, ready to pour as many glasses of their signature serve as you deem necessary to truly get an impression of their abilities. You’ll then have to take some serious time to reflect on what you’ve drunk… because you need to vote for the winner. This is a margarita rumble, after all.
3) But before casting your vote on the best-in-show, you’ll perhaps sniff out the food offerings – Great British Menu winner James Cochran will be making some chicken and cauliflower, split across two stalls.
It’s stirring stuff.
NOTE: Margarita Rumble takes place on Sunday 5th May 2019, with 2-hour sessions (although if you plump for the VIP tickets, you’ll also get an early-access additional preview hour before the main entry). Tickets start at £35 and can be purchased online HERE.
