Cricket and a good glass of wine.
As long as they’re not on the same pitch, they go very well together.
And just as the 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup is about to begin, their official wine partner, Wolf Blass, are planning to bowl you over with something of their own.
For three days this May, they’ll be popping up with a multisensory, al fresco wine bar overlooking the river. It’s called The Chase, and here’s what you can expect…
THE LAUNCH NIGHT
Promising to be ‘An Evening of Excellence’, The Chase’s launch night takes place on the very same day as the opening World Cup match (Thursday 30th May). As the sun begins to set, you’ll be invited to join them in their secluded garden bar, where a couple of cricketing legends – Michael Clarke, the Aussie batsman & captain who led his team to victory in the 2015 World Cup, and Charlotte Edwards, former captain of England’s women’s team – will be talking about their careers, the trials and triumphs of professional cricket, and their predictions for this year’s tournament, all followed by a Q&A. After that, you’ll be free to see the evening out with a multisensory wine experience, alongside a few snacks from The Cheese Truck (the pop up predecessor to Camden’s Cheese Bar).
THE POP UP
And speaking of that wine experience… if you’re unable to make it to the launch night, there’ll still be three whole days for you to swing by and visit the wine bar. Separated into three different areas – the vineyard, the cricket pavilion, and the Wolf Blass wine bar – it’s all been designed to help you find your perfect wine match. And considering Wolf Blass have a tidy 10,000 awards under their belt (including 3 x Red Winemaker of the Year awards from the International Wine Challenge), it’s safe to say there’ll be something to suit you.
And of course, the Cheese Truck will still be on hand dishing up their celebrated grilled cheese toasties, too.
Which is a rarebit of a treat.
NOTE: The Chase will be popping up in the Bernie Spain Gardens on the Southbank from 30th May – 1st June. Tickets to the launch night are £15 and include the talk/Q&A, complimentary wine experience and snacks from The Cheese Truck – book ’em HERE.
