Beyond The Road | Audiovisual Exhibition
Have you seen UNKLE’s latest album?
See, the trip hop electronica group haven’t just released The Road: Part II/Lost Highway in audio form. That would be the kind of mainstream thing a group called, say, UNCLE would do. Instead, they’ve joined forces with the Saatchi Gallery and a pair of Punchdrunk creatives to design a fully experiential version of the album.
Taking over the whole top floor of the Saatchi, the multisensory exhibition weaves through multiple rooms, each with their own bespoke soundscape running on a continuous loop. Extracts from the album combine with shifting light patterns projecting onto installations, sculpture and film (all produced by the likes of Warren du Preez, Danny Boyle, Alfonso Cuaron and Polly Morgan) – and should you revisit a room, you might find that the artwork takes on a totally different meaning as the music shifts.
It’s worth heading down the road for.
NOTE: Beyond The Road is open daily, 10.00am- 5.45pm (last entry 5.00pm), until 24th July. Tickets cost £20 and can be booked in advance HERE.
