Wes Anderson — Asteroid City

Wes Anderson — Asteroid City | Pop up exhibition and cafe

Given Wes Anderson’s love of symmetry, he’d probably be delighted if we gave this new pop up cafe a 5/10.

Unfortunately for him, it’s looking like it’ll be a little better than that.

It’s all part of a new exhibition dedicated to the work of the quirkily stylised director at the space in 180 Studios, which will showcase the whimsically colourful sets, props, costumes and artwork from his new film Asteroid City. Then, at the end, you’ll get to have a bite to eat at the Luncheonette, a faithful recreation of the diner featured in the movie itself.

The show has now been extended until July 30th, and yes, it’s something of a promotional stunt for his new film… but, also yes, sometimes promotional stunts can be great. Just look at the OXO Tower. And on the off chance that you haven’t seen the film’s trailer, it’s a film about a TV show about a play set in 1955, in a small town called Asteroid City, which features Junior Stargazers, aliens, and Jeff Goldblum. And early reviews are extremely promising – it’s currently sitting at 78% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Speaking of, there’s no word as to the menu, but expect something vegetarian…

…and something meteor.

NOTE: The Wes Anderson – Asteroid City exhibition is popping up at 180 Strand from 17th June until 30th of July. You can find out more, and book your ticket (£15) at the website right here.
