Boom Cycle

If you haven’t gone to a spin class in a while, Boom Cycle is here to get you back in the saddle.

Spinning is one of those things that has to be done right – after all, there’s a very fine line between ‘uplifting, endorphin-boosting exercise class’ and ‘going for an agonising static bike ride wearing some weird little shoes’. Happily, the team behind Boom Cycle have got the balance nailed, delivering brilliantly slick 45 minute classes that will leave you fizzing with adrenaline – and, even more happily, they’re offering Nudge Members 30% off 10 or 20 class packs for one month, from 10th April to 8th May.

With their classes presented as a ‘party on a bike’, Boom Cycle offers some of the most out-and-out stylish spinning it’s possible to experience in the capital. Their studios in Hammersmith & Battersea are glossy state-of-the-art spaces with lighting that’s perfectly-calibrated to make you look fantastic without revealing quite how sweat-soaked and ravaged by exertion you may have become, the music is the right level of loud and flawlessly synced to your class, and the instructors are welcoming, knowledgeable and encouraging-but-not-intimidating. In short, the vibes are, as they say, immaculate.

As ever with a good spin class, the intangible that gets you through those hideous hill climbs is the sense of community in the room, and Boom Cycle offers that in spades. As the difficulty is cranked up yet again – something the instructor unaccountably manages with a smile on their face and no visible sense of effort – you’ll inevitably be surrounded by wide-eyed Boom regulars there to offer you support and encouragement and keep the energy flowing (is it a cult? Probably not!).

And, lest we forget, spinning is also incredibly good for you. You’ll build up your strength, power, and endurance, and leave a class with a clearer head – 45 minutes of screen-free focused exertion is a remarkable stress-buster. There’s a reason business is Booming.

There’s the BOOM CYCLE OG class if you’re there to get keep it light and get in the groove, or if you’re a down for a music-fuelled training-style session at a slower RPM with heavier resistance, there’s the more hardcore BOOM CYCLE PERFORMANCE class, improving your endurance and your speed at every gear turn (even as you resolutely stay in one place).

It’s also the thin end of the wedge – Boom Cycle is part of the United Fitness family, which also contains Reformcore, Barrecore, Boom Cycle, KOBOX, and Triyoga, meaning your tentative spinning experiments might end up becoming part of – whisper it – a balanced, healthy lifestyle.

But don’t overthink any of that for now – just enjoy the ride.
