Things to do

Australia Day Craft Beer Festival

It’s been a tough week for inaugural events.

But we’re predicting a pretty solid turn-out for this one.

That’s because it’s the first craft beer festival in London to be held in honour of Australia day – which, now we think about it, really should have been done by now, considering how much the Aussies are universally stereotyped admired for their penchant for beers, barbies and, you know, fun.

Taking on the mantle are Hops and Glory, an independent Islington pub; Randy’s Wing Bar, the chicken wingery; and slow meat cookers Pull & Punch: together, they’re planning an all-day, Oz Day party at Hackney’s Oval Space. Seek here and ye shall find:

BEER

It’s a craft beer festival, so they’d be pretty shafted if they’d forgotten this one. But this is no run-of-the-mill hop haul – they’ve brought together not one, not two, but eight breweries that are a cut above everything else down under, including Little Creatures, Vale Brewery and Stone & Wood.

FOOD

You can expect all your Aussie classics here. They’ll be firing up a BBQ and grill for pulled pork and wings, alongside authentic Australian sweets, Lamingtons, and free sausage sarnies for anyone arriving before 2pm.

FUN PARTY TIMES!

And to complete the gig line-up, there’ll be an endless stream of live music and entertainment, DJs, Espresso martinis and coffee liqueur courtesy of Mr. Black, and many, many inflatable sharks, that’ll keep the party going way into the wee hours.

Gotta love those party animals.

Details: The Australia Day Craft Beer Festival takes place on 26th January, 12pm-12am at Hackney’s Oval Space. Early bird tickets are £5 HERE.
