London pop up cinemas might come in spades.
But there’s very few that come with spades.
That title can be claimed by Backyard Cinema alone, who, fresh from the success of their Lost World and Winterville themed pop-ups, have completely reincarnated their vast, brick-walled screening space as a Miami-inspired beach. Which is good for three particular reasons:
1) When we say beach, we really mean beach. You’ll be handed a pair of flip flops as you make your way to the decadent comfort of the grand screening room, replete with leafy palms, surfing paraphernalia, and a flamingo bar serving up exotic cocktails and swanky cinema snacks – oh, plus a casual half dozen tonnes of actual sand that allows you to sink your toes into the beach, as you sink into their famous giant bean bags.
2) This beach will be playing host to a whole season of cult classics, including Grease, Pretty Woman and Back To The Future – as well as more current flicks like La La Land and Baby Driver.
3) It all happens to be tucked away inside Italian street food spot, Mercato Metropolitano. Meaning you can feast on meatballs, before feasting your eyeballs (on a film).
It’s definitely one for the bucket list.
NOTE: Backyard Cinema’s Miami Beach is now open. Tickets start at £16.50 and are available HERE.
