If there was an Olympic competition for knowing a place with a quirky croquet lawn, irresistible street food and top-notch cocktails, we would definitely medal.
Probably gold.
Because we’ve managed to find somewhere that will satisfy both your newly awakened, Olympics-inspired sporty side and that part of you that would quite like to just spend the weekend sipping cocktails on a rooftop, please.
It’s all thanks to Chambord, who are recreating their Chapter Eight Games event of 2015 at the new venue of Dalston Roof Park; the astro-turf clad, East London hideout loved for its sweeping views of the city and kitsch seating. And they’ve given it a particularly curious makeover, inspired by the croquet game in Chapter 8 of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (see what they did there? Of course you do).
And so, in keeping with our Olympic theme, we present you with our winning podium of reasons to visit:
1) Did we mention there is a full-on croquet lawn? Like, a really big one. And you’ll be playing with flamingo mallets.
2) There’ll be a bar serving up classic Chambord cocktails, including their specially-created Chapter Eight cocktail, a punchy mix of Chambord, gin, grapefruit and roses. And if you book in for croquet, you’ll even get a free cocktail on arrival. Which is always appreciated.
3) There’ll also be plenty of French American street food on hand from Le Bun and mouthwatering desserts from Dum Dum (who, unlike their name suggests, know a LOT about making a good cronut).
Move over Olympics, there’s a new set of games in town.
NOTE: The Chambord Chapter Eight Games will be taking place from 1st – 4th September and will be open 5pm-11pm Thursday & Friday, 1pm-12am Saturday and 1pm-10pm Sunday.

Please also note that there is no lift up to the park and access is by stairs only.
