Check On At The Sanderson

Check On Presents Great British Classics | The Sanderson Hotel

Great Britain.

The land of hope and glory; tea; The Beatles; mushy peas; Wimbledon; perpetual rain; and innovative culinary happenings.

And who better to help you celebrate all of these things (other than the tennis) than a maverick chef and an ex-Burberry model, both determined to shower you with love at an intimate, experimental 8 course feast in a very private room at The Sanderson Hotel?

Um, no one.

Which is fortunate, because that’s exactly what they’re planning to do…

Your evening will begin with a complimentary cocktail. Our pleasure. Relaxed, you’ll then elegantly descend the sweeping staircase that leads down to the billiard room. Hopefully without tripping up.

Taking your seat in (what would be) the shadow of a vast John Piper stained glass window (if it weren’t a window, and so unlikely to give off a shadow), you’ll immediately note the crackly sounds of iconic British records – from The Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd to The Beatles and some old British heritage tunes – emanating from an original Dansette record player in the corner of the room.

A nice touch.

It’ll then be time for you to find out what the 28 year old, Michel Roux-trained chef Terrence Edwards can really do…  But if you’d like to know in advance, then the answer is “a lot”. Like, for example, your second course: a chicken salad dusted with a blue cheese and English rapeseed oil powder that liquefies when eaten. Or your third course: a bacon sandwich where the bread’s a sauce, the bacon’s a dehydrated crumble and the ketchup’s a jelly cube.

And then dessert: Terry’s crackle-crystal infused Chocolate Orange, followed by George’s Marvelous Medicine (imbibed from a medicine bottle, through a hollowed out vanilla pod) and finally, a good old cup of Earl Grey tea….

… served as a mousse.
