Death By Burrito | Tradicional After Supper Club
This Sunday, 16th September 2012, is Mexican Independence Day.
Which means two things:
1 – You finally have your long-awaited opportunity to chat someone up by saying,
“Grab your taco, you’ve pulled a dyslexic Mexican”.
2 – You’re going to need, at some point, to celebrate it.
Though others consider Mexican food to all be the same, only folded differently, two impermanent Mexican joints setting up shop in London within the next 3 weeks know differently.
What do you call a Mexican with a rubber toe? Roberto.
Taking this – for no good reason at all – in reverse chronological order, the Tradicional After Supper Club, “an underground social and dining experience for gourmet adventurers and lovers of all things Mexican”, launches on 4th October 2012.
A joint venture by Jose Cuervo Tradicional and The Art of Dining, it’s going to combine a 5-course feast; art; Mexican music (hopefully Juan Direction’ll be playing…) and boat loads of tequila in Castle Gibson’s amazing MC Motors warehouse.
Next up – but first up, really – is ‘Death By Burrito’, Rebel Dining Society’s contemporary Mexican grill and cocktail bar, now open at Catch bar in Shoreditch and serving experimental tequila-based cocktails; duck and beef short rib burritos / tacos with deconstructed guacamole and blue corn tortilla chips; plus a selection of small bites.
Let’s count, for once, on this one not living up to its name.
Details: Death By Burrito at Catch, 22 Kingsland Rd, Shoreditch; 020 7729 6097. Tickets HERE | Tradicional After Supper Club at MC Motors in Dalston from 4-6 October and 10-13 October
