Fusion Funk

Fusion Funk | Marylebone Supper Club

You know that feeling.

When you’re listening to a playlist of pure funk and soul thinking, I could really do with some sesame sea bass right now…

We hear you. Which is why it’s extremely lucky AFKitchen got in touch to tell us to tell you about their five course, pan Asian supper club, Fusion Funk, headed up by Andy Fry (whose “previous clientele include A-list actors, musicians and royalty”, or so we’ve heard.) downstairs, underneath London’s Carousel.

Imagine this:

You’ll arrive to a glass of bubbles – chilled, obviously, because what isn’t to a backdrop of James Brown, Nile Rodgers and Gill Scott-Heron.

Next, you’ll sit down to a five course, pan Asian meal including dishes such as butternut squash, chilli and coconut soup; sesame sea bass with a mango salad; wagyu beef with teriyaki and oyster vegetables; and passion fruit creme brûlée for dessert.

At this point the music will probably start to quicken a little. There’ll be three DJs throughout the night, gradually moving from slower, more soulful tunes to something a little funkier, eventually hoping to have you up on your feet.

Which will no doubt lead to you become significantly more aware of the bar, serving up three seperate, specially created cocktails: the South East Storm of gold rum, ginger beer, lime and lemon grass; the Twisted Tom of cucumber infused gin, lemon, soda and Thai basil; and the Mojichee of white rum, mint, lime and lychee. After all, as Marvin Gaye puts it,

When you get that feeling…

NOTE: Fusion Funk is taking place Saturday 3rd September. Tickets are available here. Doors will close at 7.45pm so please make sure to arrive beforehand.
