You may already be aware that the literal translation of ‘karaoke’ is ‘empty orchestra’. And largely, it’s been a pretty accurate moniker.

Until now.

Because you’re about to test out your pipes live on stage with a 15-strong gospel band. That’s right. Karaoke. With a gospel choir.

Specifically, with vocal powerhouse Toni Robinson and her gospel choir, who have been making boozy punters sound like passable singers since 2014. Prepare to battle through hordes of adoring fans as you ascend the stage, taking on rock, soul and R&B hits like “Shackles” by Mary Mary, “I Believe I Can Fly”, and “Livin’ On a Prayer”.

Taking place once a month at The Blues Kitchen in Brixton, there’s always a well-stocked bar should you need any Dutch courage before your barnstorming rendition. And to cap it all off, there’s also team harmonies, anthemic mass singalongs, and prizes throughout the night for the most impressive performances. Being a gospel-themed night, there will also be confessional tales – naturally, there’s a prize for that too, and it could be yours…

It’s holy possible.
