Immersive theatre is making a satirical comment on the modern dating world.
It’s even taking a swipe at Tinder.
The piece in question, The Last Dance, is presented by Reuben Feels, the immersive theatre collective who have worked on everything from festival experiences, to interactive dining club Gingerline. Set in a slightly creepy future where matchmaking services pride themselves on a 100% success rate, this piece invites you to experience the machine yourself and consider “how we connect with one another today”.
Deep.
And, thinking about it, a satire about modern dating is, in fact, the perfect show to attend on a date. Because:
The evening will be a surprise for you both – they’re deliberately pretty cagey about the details, but you can experience it a-fresh together, and like, bond.
As part of your dystopian uniform, you’ll be expected to wear jeans and a white t-shirt. Which means your meticulous outfit planning is already done.
You’ll have loads to discuss during the show as you wander through the beautiful and romantic surroundings of Hoxton Hall, and if you don’t…
…there’ll be a DJ running after-parties till 2am on Friday and Saturday nights that will soon break any awkward silences.
And if you’re happily shacked up already, you should probably come for all the above reasons anyway.
