Skye Halla

Skye Halla | Nordic Pop-Up

Viking parties.

They weren’t exactly Loki.

And The Queen of Hoxton are out to prove it with the help of festival production whizzes Fables – the guys responsible for decking out Secret Garden Party and Shambala – by transforming their rooftop bar and Winter WigWam into a Viking stronghold complete with long boat, feasting hall and crackling fire pits.

Sit alongside your battle-hardened comrades at banqueting tables festooned with discarded weapons and driftwood sculptures while you:

Feast on hearty Nordic fare like pork belly hot pot with apples, potatoes and smoked garlic; salmon rosti with pickled cabbage and buttery root veg mash; or get festive with slow braised turkey leg with sloe gin gravy.

Drink foraged cocktails like stinging nettle martinis or warm the cockles with a horn full of hot mead punch. Other hot drinks include spiced red wine spiked with gin, or their famous buttered rum.

Do plenty of activities in keeping with the Nordic theme: try a hair braiding workshop by The Braid Bar, or listen to award-winning story-teller Giles Abbott in a Halloween special. There’s also life drawing, etching, a chain maille jewelry workshop and more – all of which take place in the shadow of an immense mythical tree.

It’s almost like you’ve died and gone to Valhalla.

NOTE: Skye Halla will be open Thursday 27th October until the end of March 2017, Mon-Sat 4pm-10pm.
