Slap Ya Papa

Christmess at The Vaults | Slap Ya Papa

At some point this Christmas you’re probably going to want to slap ya papa…

And by that, of course, we mean head down to The Vaults – hidden in Waterloo’s Victorian railway arches – where Slap Ya Papa and Marbles & Ware Collective are holding a four week long Christmas pop-up, comprised of all of the absolute best parts of the occasion:

1. THE FOOD

Forget the 12 days of Christmas, Slap Ya Papa are bringing you the 12 dishes of Christmas (in one day) as part of their nightly Louisiana-inspired feasts. You’ll arrive to an estranged, tired looking aunt suited and booted doorman, fit with jukebox and fire-blowing tuba – plus a welcome cocktail – , quickly abandoning all the rest of your Christmas normalities at the door. There’ll Santa’s little helpers, sparkle spreading Kaleidoscope Girls and singing waitresses, all of whom will serve you up everything from Cajun slow-roasted Turkey and honey-glazed hams to truffled sprouts and candied yams.

Plus, on Sundays, there’ll be an eight course Sunday Roast, specially designed by the chef of Mayfair’s Hatchetts, Andy Duncan.

2. THE BOOZE

Alongside your feast you’ll be able to enjoy hot and cold cocktails, as well as multiple beers and wine, available from the main Christmess Naughty and Nice bar, which will also be where you’ll eventually abandon dinner for late night parties with live music, DJ sets and… Christmas elves getting lose.

You’ll be in with a chance to visit the glittering Green Fairy who – from inside her hidden bottle shop – will be granting guests a wish and a little tincture of absinthe for treats. And St Nick – inn his secret Santa’s Grotto – there to tell you if you’ve been naughty or nice and offering up tastes of cinnamon whisky to the latter.

3. THE GIFTS

Every Saturday and Sunday will see Marbles & Ware hosting their annual big top Christmas Bizarre Bazaar where -alongside warm cocktails and a line-up of live music, comedy, spoken word and performance – there’ll also be a variety of independent traders showcasing and selling their homemade Christmas gifts.

Come to Papa.
